Professor Heikki Kyröläinen
Having been involved in the International Congress on Soldiers’ Physical Performance since 2005, I’m so happy that we now have a genuine congress series and excellent organisers from all over the world!. The ICSPP is a great opportunity to meet people from many different nations to discuss issues relevant to soldiers’ physical performance. The previous congresses have been very interactive
and stimulating experiences and I am sure ICSPP2017 will be no different. My presentation will focus on the optimisation of soldiers’ physical training and consequently physical performance, as this is critical to the successful execution of military operations. Personally, I am particularly interested in hearing about new methods and tools for measuring soldier physical performance in the field and better understanding the relationship between cognitive factors and physical performance in a military context.
Thematic Session Proposals
The call for thematic session proposals closed on the 30 April 2017. Thematic sessions require 4-6 speakers from at least two different countries to present a coherent body of research on a topic of international importance to soldiers’ physical performance. We are delighted to announce that 24 session proposals were submitted. There was a very strong international representation across the proposals and a great breadth of topics. Based on the quality of the research and the calibre of the speakers listed in the session proposals, ICSPP2017 is going to be a great congress!. The scientific committee is currently in the process of reviewing proposals and will advise outcomes shortly.
